Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said Bangladesh will give 50,000 tons of fertilizer to Nepal.
The premier made the commitment in talking to her Nepali counterpart KP Sharma Oli over the phone on Tuesday afternoon.
Ihsanul Karim, press secretary to the prime minister, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said the Nepali prime minister called Sheikh Hasina at 5pm on Tuesday, and the two prime ministers spoke for around 20 minutes.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also assured her Nepali counterpart of providing rail transit to Nepal, UNB reports.
The Nepali prime minister expressed gratitude to his Bangladesh counterpart in this regard.
Ihsanul Karim said the two leaders put emphasis on further bolstering bilateral relations and cooperation in different sectors.
They hoped that the preferential trade agreement (PTA) between the two counties would be signed to boost trade and commerce.
Sheikh Hasina congratulated KP Sharma Oli for successfully combating Covid-19 in his country, the PM's press secretary added.
