आज से 46 साल पहले, आज ही के दिन, भारतीय रेल पर अपनी जायज मांगो को लेकर अभुतपुर्व हड़ताल रेलकर्मियों ने शुरू की. 22 दिनों तक चली हड़ताल को मशहूर मजदूर नेता श्री जोर्ज फर्नांडीस के नेतृत्व में 52 युनियन संघटित 'नेशनल कोआरडीनेशन कमिटी फोर रेलवेमेन स्ट्रगल' NCCRS नामक कमिटी द्वारा किया गया. मध्य रेल के नेशनल रेलवे मजदूर युनियन NRMU के तत्कालीन महामंत्री श्री व्ही.आर.मलगी का मुंबई में तथा सदर्न रेल पर CITU के कार्यकर्ता श्री रामचंद्रन का देहावसान हूआ तथा हजारों कार्यकर्ताओं को अनेक यातनाएं सहनी पडी. आज उनके त्याग और बलिदान को स्मरण करते हुए और बडी फक्र के साथ उस हड़ताल और उन साथियों को हम अभिवादन करते हैं.
आज दुनिया के साथ अपना देश भी कोरोना के महामारी से ठप्प हो गया है. ऐसे समय रेल कर्मचारी जान जोखिम में डालते हुए अत्यावश्यक सेवा भी दे रहे हैं.
अन्याय के विरोध में लडनेवाले हम रेल कर्मचारी हर आपदा में देश सेवा में हाज़िर रहे हैं, रहतें है.
हमे फक्र है कि हम भी सेना से कम नहीं है.

On this day 46 years back i.e. 8th May 1974 Railway workers began nation wide strike for their legitimate demands. The strike that lasted for 22 days was under leadership of great labour leader Shri George Fernandes. He organised NCCRS National coordination Committee for Railway men Struggle, consisting 52 unions. The then General Secretary of National Railway Mazdoor Union Shri V. R Malgi in Mumbai and Shri Ramchandran of CITU in Southern railway, lost their lives and thousands of railway workers had to face extreme hardships due to strike.
We salute all these heroes of the struggle with pride.
Now in this 46th year whole country and the world is in lockdown for many days due to pandemic of Corona virus. As Usual the railway workers are at nation’s service risking their lives. Traditionally for any exigencies including wars the Indian Railways are at service of Nation. Hence we believe we are no less than Army.
We are proud of our history of fighting for legitimate rights as well for tradition of service for the Nation.
